iPad 2 Released!

Wednesday, 2 March 2011 18:36:51 Europe/London

Apple Launch iPad 2!

iPad 2

That's right folks, hot off the press, Apple have just launched the iPad 2, and its coming to the UK on the 25th of March! So start selling of your worldly items on eBay to save up this years hottest new table. (although my moneys still on the HP Touchpad.)

What's New?

Well the new iPad comes in Black and White, and comes with a lightning fast dual core processor, the first of its kind on a tablet device.

In addition to new speeds, the iPad 2 is 33% thinner at just 8.8mm (which is actually thinner than the iPhone 4 believe it or not!)

iPad 2 thinner than iPhone 4

Now the big thing for us, is that at last it has a front and rear facing camera, which is great for FaceTime and Skype calls all round. (although this should have really been on the first iPad.)

Other than those tidbits, nothing else has really changed, its the same price, same look and still doesn't do flash! So what will your money be on this year? With Google, HP and Blackberry all bringing out new tablets this year, how do you think this handles the competition?

New Final Cut Pro - Changes are aparently 'Ambitious and Spectacular'

Wednesday, 23 February 2011 10:11:53 Europe/London

It's been reported today by our friends over at TechCrunch the new version of Final Cut Pro 8 / Final Cut Studio 4 is going to be spectacular!

Final Cut Pro 8 Final Cut Studio 4

According to our very own people familiar with the matter, a small group of video editors were on the Apple campus recently in order to preview the new version of video editing software, which is in the same space as Avid and Adobe Premier. Apparently Apple is still putting the finishing touches on “the biggest overhaul to Final Cut Pro since the original version was created over 10 years ago” and wanted pro user feedback. Emphasis on “pro.”

This is exciting news for all video editors as Final Cut hasn't seen a real overhaul since it was first created and lets face it, the interface is looking very 1990's!

The major improvements are likely to see a shift from 32bit to 64bit architecture which will offer huge speeds increases over Final Cut Pro 7.
Apple has given the UI design job to Randy Ubillos, who created the interface and design for iMovie 2008, which we're big fans of.

Final Cut Pro has lagged a bit with reported layoffs in 2007. Apple reportedly reorganised the team under the lead of Randy Ubillos, the developer behind the completely redesigned iMovie in 2008. In 2010, Steve Jobs responded to an email from a concerned Final Cut Pro user about the software's future. Jobs promised that the "next release [of Final Cut Pro] will be awesome".

Bigger zoom, less blur. Sony unveils the new HX100V and HX9V

Sony camera

Sony unveils the new HX100V and HX9V series

It is now official news that Sony have released the high end Cyber Shot HX100V which offers full video shooting for it's user from the touch of one dedicated button.

The 16.2 mega pixel camera is the first of the Cyber-shot line to include a 27mm Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonar T lens with 30x optical zoom which allows the user to capture blur free shots even when walking around despite the zoom power. The smaller and lighter compact Sony HX9V is the first to use a 24mm Sony G lens with optical zoom.

Both cameras allow videos to be recorded at an impressive 50 progressive frames per second, which means both these cameras can capture fast moving action shots as well as blur-free stills. That's certainly bound to be great news to those keen photographers who like to shoot from a distance, as both these cameras are capable of many possibilities such as still shots, videos and 3D work they can be useful for many situations wether it be for work reasons or travelling, they can even come in useful on holiday if you've forgotten your video recorder the outcome will still be of such high quality you'd expect the finished piece to be from a professional camera.

Another Cyber-short first is their “Exmor R” CMOS sensor which supports a brand new, Intelligent Sweep Panorama HR mode, which lets users capture up to 42.9 megapixel scenes with a whopping 10480 x 4096 resolution. The brand new intelligence which is the “Sweep Panorama HR mode” allows its user to capture up to an incredible 42.9 megapixel scenes with a whopping 10480 x 4096 resolution all at the touch of a button. Pretty impressive for a camera if you ask me.

With this camera you'll be rewarded with clearer results at the simple touch of a button, if your all dying to get your hands on this impressive piece of zoom action technology the official release is April, however, pre orders are being taken in February.
