One thing before you go
If a shortcut in the PDF seems dead, check panel focus before anything else.
A good number of Premiere's commands only fire when their own panel is selected, and Premiere gives you no indication when one isn't. The nudge, slip and slide commands belong to the Timeline. The guide commands belong to the Program Monitor. Press one with the wrong panel in focus and the key is simply ignored — no error, no beep, nothing.
Click once inside the panel the command belongs to, then press the key. That single habit resolves most of what gets reported as a broken shortcut.

Get the most from the PDF
Two shortcuts a week is roughly the rate they stick. If you're not sure where to start, learn Q and W — previous and next edit point. They sit directly above J K L, almost nobody uses them, and they are the fastest way to move through a cut without touching the mouse.
