Most shortcut cheat sheets on the internet are copies of other cheat sheets, which is why the same errors turn up on page after page. We make keyboards with these commands physically printed on the keys, so being wrong is expensive for us in a way it isn't for a blog.
So every guide follows the same rules:
- Vendor documentation first. Where the software maker publishes a shortcut reference, that is the source.
- Defaults only. Every guide covers the factory default set — what works the moment you install the software.
If a key isn't doing what a guide says, the first thing to check is whether the application is running its factory default shortcut set. Most of these programs ship with alternative presets, and a project or preset carried over from another machine can bring a changed set with it. Set it back to the default and the guides — and any shortcut keyboard — will match again.
